Innovation
"Advancing the Frontier of Power System Analysis"
Innovation at INS is grounded in technical excellence. The grid is evolving faster than traditional tools and processes can keep up, and our role is to push the boundaries of what’s possible in modeling, simulation, and analysis.
How Innovation Shows Up in Our Work
- Mastery of Advanced Tools: We leverage PSCAD, EMT-type simulations, Python automation, hybrid RMS-EMT workflows, and custom modeling approaches to solve problems that conventional tools cannot.
- Leadership in Interconnection Study Methodology: As interconnection queues grow and requirements tighten, we innovate by streamlining workflows, automating repetitive tasks, and developing faster, more accurate study processes.
- Modeling Emerging Technologies: Grid-forming inverters, advanced BESS controls, microgrids, and high-penetration renewables require new modeling techniques-and INS is at the forefront of developing them.
- Internal Tooling and Process Improvements: We build libraries, templates, and automation scripts that reduce study time, improve consistency, and allow us to scale without sacrificing quality.
- Continuous Learning and Thought Leadership: We stay ahead of evolving standards (IEEE 2800, NERC guidelines, FERC reforms) and bring that knowledge directly into our customer engagements.
Why It Matters
The industry’s hardest problems-IBR stability, PQ issues, fast-changing load profiles, and
complex interconnection requirements-cannot be solved with yesterday’s tools. INS’s
commitment to innovation ensures we remain a technical leader capable of solving tomorrow’s
challenges.
