INS ENGINEERING

WE WORK IN 11 DIFFERENT ISO MARKETS AND ALL 50 STATES

Down East Wind (ISO-NE)
INS modeled the 126MW-wind project compliant with ISO-NE in PSCAD. INS conducted system studies including TOV (load rejection, balanced and unbalanced fault, energizing synchronous condenser), and Harmonic and flicker studies following IEEE 519 and IEC standards.
Baron Winds II (NYISO)
System modeling & studies for a 122MW wind project were conducted in PSS/E, PSCAD, & ETAP. INS supported Client to complete studies including model quality tests; harmonics, TOV, NERC PRC 019, 023, 024, 025, 027; MOD 026 and 027; and Arc Flash Hazard Study.
Three Corner Solar (ISO-NE)
System modeling and studies for the 110MW solar project. System models were developed in PSCAD and PSSE compliant with ISO-NE. Studies include power factor study, TOV, harmonic, and NERC PRC 024.
Alliant Energy - Black Start (MISO)
INS supported models and performed the black-start studies in PSCAD for the Alliant Energy Black Start project in Wisconsin. The project had four blackstart units (30 MVA/unit). INS created a black-start solution that was effective with the least number of generators online during the black-start process.
NYSERDA Offshore Wind (NYISO)
INS supports developing 9GW real-time farm models and analyzes the impacts of offshore wind farms (power, frequency, and power quality) when interconnected to the NY bulk grid. Toolboxes used for model and analysis include RTDS, Opal-RT, and PSCAD.
Power Plant Controller (ERCOT)
A solar farm normally causes power fluctuation to the bulk power grid. This project developed a power plant control (PPC) system following Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC) compliance for the solar farm in combination with a microgrid at the power level of 40% of the solar farm, used PSCAD to ensure the system stability.
